2025 marks the 50^th Anniversary of The Special Consensus Bluegrass Band under the leadership of founding member Greg Cahill.

The Chicago based quartet performs traditional Bluegrass standards, songs from other genres with Bluegrass arrangements and original material by the band members.

Of their 21 recordings, the last 7 were released on the Nashville based Compass Records. They have received 2 Grammy nominations and numeerous IBMA awards. In 2024 they received the IBMA for Best Music Video for ‘Alberta Bound’, taken from their latest album ‘The Blue North’, a celebration of Canadian music.
