Families, film fans, and the local community are invited to enjoy a weekend of classic cinema at Ballymoney Town Hall as Big Screen Ballymoney, organised by Causeway Coast and Glens Arts Service, runs from 6–8 November with an exciting programme of screenings for all ages.
One of this year’s highlights is the Primary School Choice Screening on Saturday 8 November at 10.30am. Emma Thorpe, Community Arts Development Officer worked with Ballymoney Model Integrated Primary School’s School Council to select this film. After a lively vote the winner was revealed as Paddington.
The much-loved story of the marmalade-loving bear from Peru will delight children and families alike with its heartwarming message of kindness, adventure, and the joy of home. The screening is sponsored by Into Film, an organisation dedicated to inspiring young people through the magic of cinema.
Alongside Paddington, the weekend programme features something for everyone:
- The Princess Bride (Thurs 6 Nov, 7pm): A cult fairytale adventure with pirates, giants, and true love.
- Road (Fri 7 Nov, 7pm): A powerful documentary narrated by Liam Neeson, telling the moving story of the Dunlop family—Ballymoney’s own motorcycling legends.
- Singin’ in the Rain(Fri 7 Nov, 10.30am): A free dementia-friendly screening of the classic musical.
- Dirty Dancing (Sat 8 Nov, 7pm): Nobody puts this 80s favourite in the corner—expect romance, music, and iconic dance moves.
Tickets are priced at £5 per screening or £15 for a family/group of four, with the dementia-friendly screening of Singin’ in the Rain and the family Screening of Paddington offered free of charge (booking essential for all screenings).
