Interrupted (Journeys)
We are delighted to host two exhibitions in partnership with Brain Injury Matters (NI). The official launch of I AM and Interrupted (Journeys), will take place on Tuesday 8th July. I AM, is an exhibition through which the artists have explored personal themes like identity, emotions and dreams, aiming to represent themselves beyond preconceptions. This exhibition features mixed media and 3D elements created by artists Wendy Kelly, James Stewart, Stephen Gifford, Rene Boyd, Leah Batchelor, Lesley McClune, Kathryn Clarke, and Lisa Forsythe.
Interrupted (Journeys), is a large-scale collaborative installation inspired by aural histories from Limavady. It tells the tale of the stranded Ross Sea Party, a branch of Sir Ernest Shackleton’s Trans-Antarctic Expedition. Assigned to place supply depots along the Ross Ice Shelf, the team was left isolated when their ship, Aurora, broke free in a violent storm, cutting off access to supplies and communication. Enduring extreme isolation and adversity, they still managed to complete their mission. This artwork honours their resilience, bravery, and hope through a detailed origami installation that mirrors their dangerous journey.
You are invited to the official launch on Tuesday 8th July at 2pm. The exhibitions will be opened by the Lord Mayor of Belfast, Tracy Kelly. All are welcome.
Brain Injury Matters (NI) was established in 2013 as an independent regional third sector organisation supporting, promoting and empowering those individuals and families affected by acquired brain injury.
