Roe Valley Arts and Cultural Centre is proud to announce the ongoing exhibition of renowned artist John McMacken. A Limavady local, John has made a remarkable impact in the art community from his base at the Engine Room Gallery in Belfast. His latest exhibition launched at RVACC on April 3rd and has been nothing short of a resounding success, captivating both locals and visitors alike.

The opening event was filled with vibrant energy and creativity, attracting an enthusiastic audience eager to explore John’s imaginative works. Numerous guests took the opportunity to share their thoughts in the exhibition's guestbook, with entries such as “amazing exhibition, full of imagination” and “it is like taking the mind for a walk” reflecting the inspiration that John's art elicits.

Not only have John’s pieces interested visitors, but they have also formed the backdrop and content for GCSE art classes at Limavady High School. Leading an engaging lesson, teacher Stuart Quigley utilised John’s artwork to inspire creativity among students, highlighting the exhibition's role as a valuable educational resource within the community.

In a further demonstration of his commitment to engaging with local youth, John offered a personalised tour to students from Rossmar School, who are currently designing their own exhibition inspired by his work. The young artists were able to gain a firsthand insight from a contemporary artist.

Additionally, during the Easter break, John led an interactive 'Easter Doodles' workshop, which brought together local families and children, encouraging them to explore their creativity through art. Primary school students from Drumachose PS have also made a special visit to experience the exhibition, engaging with the art in an enjoyable and educational setting.

John McMacken's exhibition at Roe Valley Arts and Cultural Centre is incredibly interactive, allowing visitors to immerse themselves fully in the creative process. We have prepared worksheets for guests to take along, encouraging them to create their own doodles and explore their artistic expression as they engage with John's artwork.

We invite the community to visit and experience this captivating exhibition, which will be on display until May 16th.
