Celebrate Ulster Scots Week with Us!

Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council is celebrating Ulster Scots Language Week with a concert by acclaimed musician Willie Drennan and storytelling from Janice Witherspoon.

The virtual events are free to enjoy and will be available to view from the comfort of your own home on Thursday 26th November.

Joined by fellow musicians Ian Burrows and John Trotter, Willie Drennan will lead an evening of traditional music, song, and Ulster-Scots rhyme from 8pm on Flowerfield Arts Centre’s Facebook page and YouTube channel.

Expect an informal, spirited performance on fiddles, accordion, bagpipes, flute and drums, as the talented trio pull out all the stops to create a magical evening of music and more.

Superb storytelling is also on offer as part of the celebrations, with families invited to gather together to explore tales of Ulster Scots language and culture with Janice Witherspoon. This will be live streamed on Roe Valley Arts & Cultural Centre’s Facebook page at 3.30pm.

Both events have received financial support through Council’s Good Relations Programme. This uses the creative arts to connect people from different community and cultural backgrounds to build positive relations.

Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council’s Arts Service will develop similar events for Irish Language Week in March 2021.
