The Arts Centre was buzzing with colour, creativity and joyful energy on Thursday 12 February, as the community joined us at Roe Valley Arts Centre for our Awakening celebration.

Despite the weather not being on our side, plenty of visitors nipped in out of the rain — enjoying a lovely afternoon filled with light, colour and creativity throughout the building.

Our Wishing Tree quickly filled with heartfelt and hopeful messages, from wishes for new pets and to meet unicorns, to dreams for the future and a little more kindness in the world. Thank you to everyone who took a moment to share their wishes — it made for a beautiful display of community spirit.

The Causeway Mummers brought wonderful atmosphere to the day, sharing lively performances and storytelling that delighted visitors of all ages and added a touch of tradition and fun to the celebrations. St. Brigid was also wandering the halls, sharing stories and traditions of Imbolc, giving everyone a magical glimpse into the folklore and seasonal customs that inspired the day.

Visitors explored a variety of hands-on crafts, including St. Brigid’s Crosses and Imbolc-inspired hanging decorations, bringing the season to life with flowers, spring animals, and symbolic designs. Every corner of the centre was filled with colour, movement, and smiles as people of all ages joined in, making the afternoon a truly creative and joyful experience.

Due to the wet weather, the spectacular Firepoise finale moved indoors to the auditorium — and what a treat it was. Audiences were captivated by an incredible LED performance, transforming the space into a glowing, magical display and providing the perfect bright ending to the day.

Thank you to everyone who came along, braved the rain, and helped make the day so special. We loved welcoming you into the centre and hope you enjoyed this vibrant afternoon of creativity and community.
