5th August 2019
Now it’s officially August Craft Month we’re celebrating all things craft and as part of our regular feature ‘Meet the Maker’ this week we look at the work of Eleanor-Jane McCartney, Irish Glass Artist.
Eleanor-Jane who lives and works in the Causeway Coast and Glens studied Fine and Applied Art at Art College. Many of the skills and techniques which she learned are evident in her work which comprises jewellery, fused-glass and wall art. Like many artists living and working in the Causeway Coast and Glens the landscape and its natural forms influences Eleanor-Jane’s work and she comments:
“…practice is informed by the ancient weathered marks on our rich layered land with references often made Celtic crosses and volcanic land formations; influenced by coastal textures and flora; and impacted by the subtle colours distinctive to our beautiful coastline.”
