Looking at God

The exhibition Looking at God features photographs and video projections by Stephen Wilson of Biblical and religious texts displayed on handmade signs across the Northern Irish countryside. Often glimpsed yet rarely examined, these signs form the focus of this project. The exhibition documents inherited and contemporary religious experience in Northern Ireland, asking how and why people approach the idea of God, and whether a deity can be encountered through photographs or language. Co-exhibitor John Brown contributes a companion poem, Such Signs As Were Sent, expanding the dialogue between image, text and imagined divine presence.
