A World of Family Entertainment
Families are in for a treat with a programme of live entertainment at Roe Valley Arts Centre. Experience a panto full of fun as we welcome Limavady Drama Group back for their annual production, this year "Dick Whittington in the Land of Limavegas." Banyan Theatre's production of "Don’t let the Bedbugs Bite" is the perfect way to introduce your little ones to the magic of live theatre, while Fairytale Stageshow present Little Bo Peep and the Three Little Pigs (14 September) and return at Christmas for Santa’s Super Show (7 December). These shows include lots of songs, games and puzzles for little ones aged 2-6 years.
Exhibitions That Ignite Thought
We are delighted to host ATHRÚ by the talented Stuart Quigley, (from 7 September – 27 October) His work, primarily in oils and pastels on large canvases, captures the transient beauty of light and form, reflecting his fascination with change. The title, Athrú, meaning "change," is all about this ever-evolving relationship with nature.
A Space for Creativity and Connection
This Autumn Roe Valley Arts Centres has a packed programme of opportunities to spark creativity and explore new passions.
At Roe Valley Arts Centre, a diverse range of courses and workshops awaits, including pottery, Kundalini Yoga, and you can indulge in unique experiences like wool spinning and copper smithing.
Children can explore their artistic side throughout the season, some highlights include a Free Art History Kid’s Pop-up Workshop to explore the vibrant polka dot imagery of contemporary artist Yayoi Kusama at Roe Valley and the return of our Squishmallow Mixed Media workshop - this time with a spooky twist!
We are excited for the return of Mums Meet and Make - a creative series designed for new mothers with infants under one year old. These workshops provide an opportunity to combat isolation, foster community, and spark creativity. These workshops allow mothers to enjoy guilt-free "me time” with pottery, painting and creative writing at an affordable cost.
Halloween and Christmas Magic
Mark your Calendars for our Halloween Open Days on Monday 28th October. This year, our Open Days will celebrate our shared cultural heritage and embrace the light as the darker evenings draw in – as communities have done for centuries across different cultures. Dive into the magic with a family-friendly movie, hands-on creative craft sessions celebrating Samhain and Diwali, storytelling and more, but beware of who lurks around the corners… These activities have received financial support from the Executive Office through the Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council Good Relations Programme.
Another Halloween Highlight at Roe Valley Arts Centre on All Hallow’s Eve is The Song of the Bones (31st October). This is the dark immersive retelling of the story of Ireland’s Last Witch Trail, merging electronic pop music with traditional shadow puppetry to tell the tale. Created by Claire McCartney & Beccy Henderson of VOKXEN, featuring haunting puppetry by Claire Roi Harvey (Star Wars/Jurassic World), and earthy musical percussion by David McLaughlin (Blue Man Group).
As the festive chill fills the air we will have Christmas-themed creative workshops in wreath-making, fused glass, pottery, and festive film screenings for all ages. PLUS we have a Brand New Roe Valley Magical Christmas Experience where children can come along and meet Mrs Calus, and enjoy storytelling, create reindeer food, craft paper wreaths, make a festive tree decoration and even write your Christmas letter to Santa.
