Experience the magic of botanical printing with artist and designer Angela Turkington. This one-day course will introduce you to some fail safe techniques in producing beautiful and unique prints from locally sourced flowers and plants on luxurious silk fabric. During the morning you will experiment and create samples, which will form the inspiration for the afternoon session where you will design and botanically print your own unique silk scarf to take away, along with your samples.

HAND BUILDING POTTERY WORKSHOP

Whether you're a beginner or have prior experience, join ceramicist Jane McCluskey for this 4-week course where you will master hand-building techniques like slab building, coiling, pinch pots and press moulds to craft diverse pots like vases and bowls. During the final session, you’ll bring your creations to life with vibrant slips. Items will be fired and clear-glazed by the tutor to be collected at a later date.

The focus of kundalini yoga is to break through blocks in the energetic pathways of our bodies, when our energy flows freely and easily we feel balanced, grounded and connected to ourselves and the universe. Every kundalini yoga class is different, but all will feature some combination of posture, breath work, mantra and meditation. Create your own yarns from sheep's wool. Spinning has been the starting point for textile production for thousands of years. It is a heritage craft that has stood the test of time and is still relevant to today's craft processes. You will learn how to card and prepare wool for spinning. Then, using modern spinning wheels you will be guided through the process of creating yarn. All equipment and materials will be supplied. Maximum 6 places available.

Ekphrastic writing is a vivid description of a work of art. The aim of this seminar is to look at the different approaches that can be taken to bring new insights to literature and poetry that engage with a piece of visual art. During the session those in attendance will be asked to respond to a series of paintings using a variety of techniques, including the art of slow looking.

WINTER SOLSTICE GIN AND TRUFFLE MAKING WORKSHOP

Join Erin from The Edible Flower for this delectable festive gift making workshop. We'll be making some delicious edible treats that you can give as gifts or tuck into yourself. We'll begin with learning how to infuse gin or vodka to make delicious, flavoured drinks and liqueur using all sorts of seasonal ingredients, everything from cinnamon and quince to crab apples and rosemary. You will create your own festive gin to take home, ready for Christmas and tips will be shared on what flavourings to use, not just for Christmas, but seasonally throughout the year. For the second half of the workshops we'll make some gorgeous chocolate truffles and chocolate mediants infused with herbs and decorated with nuts, fruits and edible flowers. We’ll punctuate the learning and making with a warming mulled apple and gin cocktail some seasonal snacks. Afterwards, we'll send you an information pack with everything covered throughout the workshop.
